People around me always ask me why fighting game? Why limit genre of games that I play to a single genre only? Why not play other games, like RPGs (Final Fantasy, Oblivion) or strategy (DoTA)? Why go into specific details and data in FTG game, why devise mindgames on FTG games but not wanting to touch RPGs (Final Fantasy, Oblivion) or strategy (DoTA)?
During my childhood days, it's not like I don't play other genres. In fact, I was too good at all game genres but I really suck with fighting games. That was the old times. The PSX era. Before games get complicated and complex. Those times, I always play with my cousins. Fighting games became an addiction because the rotation of turns to play the game is very fast. Why not? PSX only one unit. Joysticks: two. Simple rule: losers out, winners stay.
Got a this ego thing goin on since I was a kid. A Showoff. and also greedy. If I could, I would play games from morning to evening.
Long story short, ahhh laziness kicks in...... basically you got the idea already. i was very good at using special attacks, no combo though. then one day my older cousin came back home. he challenged me to a game (KOF 94). so I played. then all of the sudden, he PWNED me like it was the best thing to do: bullying kids. I mean come on.... University student, bullying a grade schooler. How can I not get angry?
Then after that I honed my skills, and i became better to the point where my cousins cant keep up with me anymore. Then I moved to the city. The competition in arcade complexes is far greater. I played, and i played.
That's how i became a ftg game player only. I cant play strategy games because i cant find enjoyment in those kind of game genres anymore.
